Sum Sum Summertime

Slip Sliding Away
Heath and the girls enjoy one of his birthday presents.

Heath's Second Moto
Franklin County Fairgrounds - Round 2
Coming back from walking the track
90 degrees in the shade, but the girls know how to tailgate.

Adam's cousin Ben, who is Ari's age, races in the pit bike class.

Randy and the boys came to watch the races - and play with the toy dirt bikes.

Heath placed NOT LAST for the only time - 11th out of 13 and 8th out of 9. Not bad for a second time out - and he did not fall except in the practice round.
Quin and the boys have a great view of the races. Until Adam sees them, that is!

Heath thought his trophies were for "Best Turner" because he was working so hard on the curves.

Father's Day
Adam's such a great dad - he spent his father's day setting up the pool for the kids.

Fried chicken and sweet potatoes in the turkey fryer. It doesn't get much better than this.

Chalk zombies.
Seriously, that's what the kids were doing. They patted the chalk onto themselves and "attacked" us. I never claimed they were normal.

Heath's Third Moto
Round 3, Circleville
Heath did well in the practice rounds, but came in dead last in the races. He had made a new friend and refused to pass him until he got to the whoop-ti-dos after the final flag. He's there for the fun - he may never be competitive!
The little boys look so small when they stand near the older racers.
Backyard Campout
Well, it was going to be. Until we had a visit from Pepe lePew, and we ended up sleeping inside the house after all.

Please, sir, may I have S'mores?

Now We Are Six

Heath turned 6 the day after Ari's graduation, so we were already set up for a party. Many of the same people came both days for an entire weekend of family fun. The weather was beautiful, so we spent a lot of time outside.
Dodge-football. Hence the broken board on the fence.

Adam will use any excuse to cook over an open flame, but this time it was legitimate. We had the grill filled with roasted corn. Yum!

We had a Transformers pinata for the kids - the kind with the strings, so no baseball bats were involved. Heath went first, and actually selected the correct string to open the trap door. (What are the odds of that! Well, 1 out of 16, if you're counting!) Fortunately, it didn't open all the way, so candy fell out periodically and all of the kids got to pull a string before the pinata was empty.

Nicole did a great job of bobbing the pinata to make it more fun.
Brandon helped the little ones fill their treat bags, but he did end up with one lone container of candy!
Quin checks out her loot.
Even Chuck Norris the Dog made off with a pinata treat - here he is hiding under the deck with a stolen squirt gun. The booty was recovered.
We were all so stuffed, we did presents before cake this year.
I think he likes it. . .
Carrie is excited about the Slip and Slide.
The big present - Papaw, Grandma, and Uncle Lowie's family provide the bow.
Now Heath can be a real elf!
What to wish for now? I think everything already came true.

The party continues into the wee hours - you'll see the light changing in the pictures as the sun sets. For some reason, Heath's birthday always turns into a 10 or 12 hour thing - I think it's because it's the perfect time in the summer for hanging out.

The big boys whip out their electronics.

At a certain time of night, the crazies come out. . .
